History, Affiliations, and Rankings

The Eindhoven University of Technology is a public technical university in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. When the Dutch government established the Technische Hogeschool Eindhoven (THE) on June 23, 1956, as the Eindhoven University of Technology, it became the second institute of its sort in the Netherlands, with the Delft University of Technology being the first. A Young University that was founded to educate the Engineers and Designers of tomorrow, Eindhoven combines scientific curiosity with a hands-on mentality through its academic programs. Today, the University also ranks in the top 1% of universities worldwide for its cooperation with the industry. The University is part of the 4TU, CESAER, Santander, CLUSTER, the European Universities Association (EUA), and EuroTech networks. The Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy (New York), and DTU Technical Institution of Denmark, among others, have substantial academic connections with the university.
