Located in the multicultural hub of the United Kingdom-Birmingham, Aston University is one of the largest and oldest universities in the nation. AU is a public research university that began as the Birmingham Municipal Technical School in 1895 that evolved into the UK’s first College of Advanced Technology in 1956. The university received its royal charter from Queen Elizabeth II on 22nd April 1966. The university is affiliated with the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), European University Association (EUA), and Association to Advance Collegiate School of Businesses (AACSB). Guardian 2022 ranks the university at #25, Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022 ranks it at #43 and the Complete University Guide 2022 ranks it at #43 in the UK National Rankings. QS World University Ranking 2022 places the university at #485 and THE World University Rankings 2022 places it between #401-500. 

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses 

The university is situated on a 60-acre campus at Gosta Green in the city centre of Birmingham, England. The campus has sports centres, swimming pools, a library, cafes, restaurants, shops, a 120 station gym, dentists, a place of worship, a bank, ATMs, etc. The University has partnered with 140+ universities globally along with a strong network in Industries and Business organisations for the benefit of students during their academic training. The Aston University Library contains over 250,000 books. All of Aston University’s faculties are based on one campus. Some of the most famous faculties include Aston Business School, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Languages, Social Sciences, and Health Sciences.  

Accomplishments and Alumni

In 2020, Aston University was named ‘University of the Year’  by The Guardian. The Times Higher Education Awards named the university as its ‘Outstanding Entrepreneurial University' in 2020. Some of the most famous alumni include Stewart Clegg (Australian sociologist), Ravi Kant (Vice Chairman of TATA Motors, India), and Laura Jones (BBC Journalist). Aston prides itself for receiving a Gold rating in the prestigious Teaching Excellence Framework, an assessment by the British Government.
