Arkansas State University was established as the First District Agricultural Institution in Jonesboro, USA in 1909 as a regional agricultural training school. Missionary Baptist minister Robert W. Glover, who served in both chambers of the Arkansas Legislature, sponsored a resolution in 1909 advocating for four state agricultural institutions. The college was raised to university status and given the name Arkansas State University by the Arkansas Legislature in 1967. Since 2009, the Arkansas State Honors College has expanded by 59%. The US News & World Report - National University Ranking has ranked Arkansas State University (ASU) at #298 for 2021, a few notches lower than its earlier ranking of 293 in the previous year, 2020. Arkansas State University is ranked #299-#391 in National Universities in the Best Colleges 2022 edition.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The university's main campus is in Jonesboro, Arkansas. For healthcare, entertainment, commerce, and industry, Jonesboro serves as Northeast Arkansas' regional hub. With nearly 68,000 inhabitants, it ranks as Arkansas' fifth-largest city. Over 123,000 people live in Metropolitan Statistical Area. Laboratories, apartments, libraries, sports courts, IT stores, dining halls, and other facilities may be found on the university's extensive campus. The university is comprised of 4 centres and institutes, namely, Arkansas Biosciences Institute, Center for No Boundary Thinking, Center for Community Engagement, and Delta Center for Economic Management. 

The mission of Arkansas Biosciences Institute, s to make Arkansans healthier through new and expanded agricultural and medical research projects. ABI will establish itself as a pioneer in health and life sciences research on a global scale. Through science-based economic development, including research, education, and technology, its many programmes will bolster Arkansas.

 The Center for No-Boundary Thinking seeks to foster a thriving intellectual community and strong ties between the fields of AI and other disciplines. 

The Center for Community Engagement's (CCE) goal is to collaborate with organisations to create, carry out, and maintain community-benefiting activities. Our objective is to assist in meeting the needs of local, regional, state, and national organisations as well as Arkansas State University. 

The Delta Center for Economic Development coordinates ASU's outreach services for economic development and strives to offer a comprehensive approach to assisting the state's businesses, municipalities, and residents. The Delta Center provides a variety of services, such as assistance with workforce retraining and leadership development for firms in Arkansas. 

The university's cutting-edge infrastructure includes 145 buildings with cutting-edge labs, libraries with countless books, e-books, rare volumes, athletic facilities, residence halls, apartments, and a variety of other organizations and clubs. Arkansas State University is a doctoral-level institution with a diverse student body, 150 fields of study, and online and off-campus programmes. A variety of bachelor's, master's, and post-graduate degree programmes are available online. Arkansas State University is renowned as Northeast Arkansas' cultural and economic powerhouse.
