Many scholarships are offered to international students at the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses. Scholarships are generally awarded on the basis of merit. There are four categories under which international students receive scholarships. They are need-and-merit-based awards available through UBC’s International Scholars Program.
Undergraduate Scholarships for International Students

Eligibility Criteria
International candidates must satisfy the following basic eligibility criteria to get the scholarship at the UBC:
- For merit-based scholarships, the candidate must be a new applicant and should be an international student willing to study in Canada on a Canadian study permit.
- Students must possess good academic performance reports, be involved in extracurricular activities and should be involved in community services.
- For need-and-merit-based scholarships, the student must be an international student with a Canadian study permit.
- Must possess a minimum of 75-80% marks in high school.
- Applicant must have a valid passport.
- Candidate must provide English proficiency test scores ie. IELTS – 6.0, TOEFL IBT – 90, DET – 125.
- Applicants must have passed the high school no earlier than one gap year prior to the academic year you are applying.

Application Process

- Visit the application page of the UBC for the International Scholars Program or merit-based program.
- Select the scholarship to which you wish to apply as per your qualifications, needs, and campus.
- To apply for a scholarship at UBC, you must have a reference letter from an academic referee. The application deadline is 15 November.
- Fill out the application form and attach all the necessary documents along with the financial proof, and notes of the extracurricular activities.
- Lastly, you need the submit the application form by 1 December.

A1. The UBC offers the International Major Entrance Scholarship and Outstanding International Student Award to exceptional candidates to perform great in their academic studies. Scholarships are generally offered on the basis of need and merit obtained in the last qualifying exams.
A2. The cost of studying at the University of British Columbia is calculated on the basis of credit. The tuition fee is reviewed and updated annually. Fees for international students for the current summer session 2023 for UG students range between CAD 57832.14 to CAD 79715.41. For Postgraduate students the tuition fee per credit ranges between CAD 40095.31 to CAD 109102.36.
A3. The amount of the UBC entrance scholarship is approximately $5000, and the amount of renewable award is up to $40,000 and $80,000 on the Okanagan campus and Vancouver campus respectively.
A4. The international students must possess a minimum of 80% marks to get scholarships in Canada.
