Tsinghua University Admissions Overview

Tsinghua University’s undergraduate programs are 4-year full-time studies, with the exception of 

• Architecture Program in Architecture Division and Sculpture Program in Arts Division, which requires 5 years; and 
• Clinical Medicine Program, which requires 8 years (Bachelor to Doctoral Degree). The programs are available in both Chinese and English. 

If the student completes all of the required coursework and passes the thesis defense, he or she will be granted a bachelor’s degree and a graduation certificate.

Tsinghua University Admissions Deadline 2023-24

Here are the Tsinghua University Admissions deadlines for different courses in 2023-24:

1. First-Round Application and Admission

* Design/Fine Arts programs in the Arts Division are open ONLY in this round

Online application (Beijing Time):	8:00 AM August 25, 2023—5:00 PM October 13, 2023
The First Round result will be issued by:	Late December, 2023

2. Second-Round Application and Admission

Online application (Beijing Time):	8:00 AM October 14, 2023—5:00 PM November 30, 2023
The Second Round result will be issued by:	Late February, 2024

3. Third-Round Application and Admission

Online application (Beijing Time):	8:00 AM December 1, 2023—5:00 PM January 15, 2024
The Third Round result will be issued by:	Late March, 2024

4. Dual Undergraduate Degree Programme Application and Admission, 2024 Entry

Online application (Beijing Time):	8:00 AM August 25, 2023—5:00 PM April 10, 2024
The result will be issued by:	May, 2024

Eligibility Requirements

There are some eligibility requirements that you should fulfil before you can apply for Tsinghua University admissions 2023-24. Read the eligibility below:

UG Courses

• Foreign people who are in good physical and mental health, are friendly to China and have received a high school diploma.
• Academic achievement – Excellent academic performance. Proof should include (but is not limited to) the following document(s):
  • Transcripts from high school/university (in Chinese or English, if applicable).
  • National/Regional Graduation/Matriculation Certificate.
  • International standard test results (e.g., SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB/others) or International STEM Test (THUSSAT International STEM Test/TIST/others).
  • 2.4 Additional supporting materials.
• HSK Level 5 or higher Chinese language proficiency, with each topic scoring more than 60 points. HSK Level 4 Chinese language competency (with each subject scoring over 60 points) is also acceptable; however, applicants must advance to Level 5 or above with each subject scoring over 60 points within the first academic year at Tsinghua University.
• 18 years old or older (by September 1, 2024). Please bring the necessary supporting documents to the official registration for applicants under the age of 18.

PG Courses

• Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid ordinary-type personal passport.
• Master’s degree program applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree (or higher) in China. 
• Doctoral degree program applicants must hold a Master’s degree or an equivalent degree (or higher) in China.
• Applicants must be in good health and of good character, well-behaved, and willing to follow China’s laws and regulations as well as Tsinghua’s policies.
• Some programs include criteria for applicants’ working years, for example. Please see the relevant notes in the program’s Catalog and Admissions Guide for more information.
• Language Proficiency same as above.

How to Apply?

Here’s how you can apply to your selected UG or PG programs at Tsinghua University and secure your admission:

UG Courses

• Online Registration
  • Register using the Online Application System.
  • During the application times, fill out the application form.
  • Upload the necessary papers.
  • Pay the application fee (800 RMB) and submit the application online.

• Comprehensive Assessment
  • Application Evaluation- Tsinghua University will review applications that contain all of the required information.
  • Integrative Evaluation – Applicants who pass the Application Review will be allowed to take the integrated test. The integrated test technique and timing will take place in advance. The test(s) announcement for Arts Division applicants will take place in advance. Applicants for the Architecture Division will be subjected to a portfolio review. 

• Admission Offer and Decision – A rigorous review of academic performance, language competence, supporting documents, and an integrative test makes the admission decision.

PG Courses

• Applicants must submit an Online Application (Apply Now) during the THU application period. (Exceptions: applicants for Schwarzman Scholars and MBA programs, should apply on the specified websites). 
• Applicants must complete the online application form
• Then, they must upload the application documents to the Online Application System, and 
• Finally, they should pay the application cost online at the time of submission.
