Myrtle Beach City Council in South Carolina has approved the establishment of International Student Accommodation.

The Myrtle Beach City Council has approved a new accommodation complex for International Students studying abroad in South Carolina, USA. The project started on May 9, 2023. The first phase of the accommodation will begin in 2025. 

The council members have approved rezoning 7.6 acres at the Robert M. Grissom Parkway and Mr Joe White Avenue intersection nearby downtown. So, this will pave the way for constructing a six-building apartment complex. 

The budget for the building is about $50 million (INR 4,101). It will be the student accommodation for international students. Around 1000 students can stay in the complex.

Benefits of the Accommodation

There are immense facilities available for international students to stay safe and feel just like home. The complex will also provide increased security with a gated fence, guards and cameras for the students. 

The rent for the student is expected to be about $150 (INR approx 12, 000)for each bed as stated by Mark Lazarus, one of the project investors. He also said, Robert M Grissom Parkway is selected as it is close to downtown proximity. 

Moreover, the property owners have incorporated the plan of sidewalk widening along Nance Street. Also, a shuttle bus will be available for the students. This also includes portions of localities such as Canal Street, Nance Street, Joe White Avenue and Robert Grissom Parkway. 

The people around the neighbourhood said student accommodation was the main requirement in the locality for years. The owner of Good Vibes Surf Shop, Brian Babbitt stated he has received hundreds of Facebook messages from students who are planning to settle in Myrtle Beach needing student accommodation.
