The US student visa application for the upcoming fall session will be processed from this month itself. Students can expect the 1st batch of US visa appointments from mid-may. 

Moreover, Mike Hankey. The US Consul General in Mumbai has announced that the visa interview appointments for Indian students will be increased by 30% this summer. 

The visa waiver program for in-person interviews has also been extended to 31st December 2023. Thus, strengthening collaborations between two countries and encouraging more international students to apply to the US universities. 

The US Visa Waiver Program Has Been Extended 

The Biden administration has decided to extend the US visa waiver programs for in-person interviews. It will be extended till 31st December, 2023. The visa waiver programs allow waiver of visa interview requirements for F, M, and J visa applicants.

However, for this the applicants should never have been refused a visa and should show no signs of ineligibility. The applicants must also have previously visited the US with a permit from ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization).

Do note that the visa waiver program extension is available to a limited number of professors, research associates, students, etc. The waiver provided might differ from case-to-case basis.
