As per the data released by France Electricity Regulatory Commission, there is an increase in French Electricity tariffs including VAT for residential customers. The tariffs are gonna strike up by 10% for French residents. Furthermore, graph below illustrates a better understanding of the rise in electricity for the following years. 

As per the sources, price shield will be gradually phased out by the end of 2023. Whatsoever, the main aim is to reduce public spending and debt as it’s part of the government’s fiscal policy.

Measures Taken by the Government

French government have decided whether to renew the price caps on electricity and gas that expire at the end of the year or whether to maintain a fuel rebate. The two measures are proven helpful to keep the French inflation rate lower than other European countries but weigh heavily on public finances. 

Nonetheless, students studying in France will see an increase of INR 14,000 (€160) in their expenses. In such cases, it’s normal to get worried about saving your expenditure. It is better to prepare oneself beforehand.
