Canada has widened its acceptance of Express Entry permits for professionals skilled in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) sector. This step is an attempt to improve its workforce in the field of STEM.
In an attempt to improve its global competitiveness and bolster economic growth, the Canadian government has announced new pathways for STEM Professionals. The immigration minister announced category-based immigration earlier this year to gauge the inflow of skilled workers receiving permanent residency in Canada.
IRCC conducted a STEM-based category draw for Express Entries on the 5th of July 2023. Not only this, this category is among those given priority for express entry.

5 Pre-Requisites for Express Entry of International Student Studying in Canada
Candidates willing to apply for an Express Entry in Canada must have some prerequisites. Their procedure will not take long and having a previous record will add to their privilege while processing their application. Here are 5 things that a student will need to prove their eligibility.
- Skilled work experience of at least 1 year in Canada.
- The job must be listed under Canada’s 2021 National Occupation Classification as TEER Category 0, 1, 2 or 3.
- The candidate must meet the language requirements. Knowing the French language can be added advantage.
- Students can also earn extra points through Comprehensive Ranking Scores.
- Lastly, one must file a complete application for express entry.
