Study in Bulgaria: The Country Invited Almost 18,000 International Students in 2023
Bulgaria stated that the country has invited nearly 18,000 international students for higher education purposes 

Nearly 18,000 students from different parts of the world chose to complete their higher education at Bulgarian institutes in the 2022-23 academic year. 

As per the data showcased by the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria, 17,593 international students chose to pursue their master’s as well as bachelor’s degrees in Bulgaria, which is 8.1% of the overall student population. 

Even though the number of international students allocated in the current academic year is slightly lesser than the previous academic year. Also, when it was 17,616, the Bulgarian institutes are happy that more international students are choosing Bulgaria as their study abroad destination. 

Most international students who are studying for their higher education in Bulgaria are from different countries. These countries are Greece (22%), the UK (14.4%), Germany (9.8%), Ukraine (9.1%), and the Republic of North Macedonia (5.6%). 

In terms of the educational field, most international students considered pursuing their higher education in business and administration(22.6%).

On the other hand, many international students chose other fields of education. These include healthcare (9.6%), education (16.3%), social and behavioural sciences (9.5%), and engineering and engineering trends (8.6%). 

The Rise of International Students in Bulgaria 

More than 200,00 international students were enrolled at different institutions as well as other types of higher schools. In addition, more than 25,000 international students also chose private educational institutions. 

The report from the NSI stated that the citizen count of Bulgaria is 190 thousand. Whereas, 91.5% of all students took admitted to specializer higher schools and reputed institutions. 

Compared to the previous year, the number has decreased by more than 4,600. The number of overseas students was 17,600, which is also an increase compared to the other years. 

Most international students graduated from different fields including health, education, business and administration, etc.
