 In a prestigious ceremony held at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Shankar Mahadevan, the celebrated Indian singer and composer, was awarded an honorary doctorate by Birmingham City University (BCU). The university bestowed this esteemed recognition upon Mahadevan for his outstanding contributions to music and the arts.

Andy Street, the mayor of West Midlands County, UK announces Mahadevan’s honorary doctorate. The announcement was done during a trade mission event in Mumbai last November. The ceremony was graced by eminent personalities, including Ustad Zakir Hussain, the renowned table maestro, and also the legendary guitarist, John McLaughlin.
