What is PGWP petition e4454?
Foreign students in Canada who are graduating from a study program for 8 months or one year will usually get a one-year post-graduation work permit which allows them to work for any employer in Canada. Similarly, candidates who graduate from a study program of 2 years or more are entitled to a 3-year post-graduation work permit. The new permit e4454 is to increase the duration of PGWPs issued to foreign students. This petition demands to increase the PGWP to 2 years for a study program of 8-12 months and to 5 years for a study program of 2 years or more.

Basis of Petition
Foreign students who have completed a 2-year program since 2017 have been granted a 4-and-a-half-year PGWP. On the other hand, students who have completed 1-year program from a DLI since 2019 have been made eligible for a 2-and-a-half-year PGWP.
The petition was initiated by Kanwar Sumit Singh Sierah, an Ontario resident from Mississauga and a regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC), who introduced the petition e4454. This petition is opened between 18th October 2023 to 15th February 2024 for signatures.
After completing their studies, graduates often struggle to get skilled employment without any prior experience. A longer period will allow me to learn more useful skills and handle many important concerns such as business selling job offers, LMIA frauds, etc.
