The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program/JJ/WBGSP scholarship 2024  is open for International applicants from developing countries. The scholarship is meant for those applying for a master’s program, which is a development-related topic. Therefore,  JJ/WBGSP  scholarships are available for 49 participating Master’s programs in 27 universities in Europe, the US, Oceania, Africa, and Japan in key areas of development. For example, tax policy, economic policy management, and infrastructure management. The scholarships are offered in 2 rounds for the next application cycle. Interested candidates must connect with the university offering the scholarship to check if they meet the criteria.  The scholarship application has to be made before the deadline.

Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2024  Eligibility Criteria 

The eligibility criteria for the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program is as follows. Note: all eligibility criteria has to be strictly followed. No exceptions will be made for any applicant.

  • Must be a national of a World Bank member developing country. For example, India.
  • Moreover, the applicant must have good health and must hold a Bachelor’s degree (earned at least 3 years before the application deadline)
  • Additionally, the applicant must have a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a development-related field  and must be employed full-time 
  • The applicant must not hold dual citizenship of any developed country
  • Moreover, the applicant must have received an unconditional offer for the upcoming academic year in any  1 of the  JJ/WBGSP participating master’s programs in a university abroad. The offer letter must be received before the deadline date.
  • However, those who have previously rejected the scholarship or have received the scholarship before but did not graduate are not eligible to apply
  • Similarly, individuals related to the World Bank employees are not eligible. For example a close blood relative of  the Executive Director, his/her alternate, and/or staff

Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2024 Benefits

The benefits of the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship are as follows:

  • Entire tuition fees of the graduate program for the course duration or 2 years (whichever is less).
  • Cost of basic medical insurance, and economy class air travel (two-way) between the home country and the host university. Additionally, the students will receive a travel allowance of US $500 for each trip.
  • Moreover, a monthly subsistence allowance to cover the living expenses is provided. However, the amount of allowance varies depending on the country of the applicant.
