Objectives of the Scholarship
The Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship is provided to encourage South Asian students to take Mandarin courses in Taiwan. Additionally, the scholarship is provided to them to increase their understanding of Taiwanese culture and society and at the same time promote mutual understanding and interactions between Taiwan and the international community.
Eligibility Criteria of Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship
The applicants who want to apply for the Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship need to follow the following eligibility criteria:
- The applicant must be above the age of 18 years and should possess a high school diploma or above. They should be of good moral character and should have an excellent academic record.
- The applicant must be an overseas Chinese student or a national of the R.O.C. (Taiwan).
- The applicant can be an exchange student from any of the South Asian countries.
- Moreover, they should have a registration as a student at a Mandarin Language Center or have sought a degree from a university or college in Taiwan.
- The applicant must not hold or have received any scholarship in the past from the Taiwan government.
- Students who hold a passport and are currently studying Mandarin in Taiwan or there as an exchange program are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Students who are in Taiwan for personal travel, are also eligible for the scholarship.

Application Process for Scholarship
The candidates who wish to apply for the scholarship program must submit an application to their local ROC overseas mission before its announced deadline. Mostly, the application period is from the first week of February till the last of March.
The scholarship can be used to take a 2-month summer course or a 3-month course. It can also be taken up to complete a 6-month or even a year-long course. The scholarship provides a monthly stipend of 25,000 NTD.
The applicants should also apply separately for admission to a Chinese language centre that is affiliated with a university in Taiwan.
In detailed application process is as follows:
- The applicant should send their application to their local ROC overseas mission.
- Secondly, the applicant should attend an interview of the overseas mission.
- The applicant has to provide a copy of their admission letter received from the Chinese language centre to the overseas mission.
- After this, the overseas mission selects the awardees for the scholarship and presents them with a scholarship certificate.

- The applicant form (which should be provided by local embassies or missions) with a passport-size photograph.
