Q.1. How does lack of sleep affect our health?

Ans. Lack of sleep can have severe effects on our health. It can lead to chronic health issues such as heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke. In addition to this, lack of sleep can affect an individual’s cognitive functions causing one to lose attention, alertness, concentration, reasoning power, and problem-solving skills. Moreover, it can make learning seem like a task and can also be the major cause of mood swings, sadness, and even depression.

Q.2. What are some strategies to improve sleep patterns? 

Ans. Some strategies that can help in improving one’s sleeping patterns include maintaining a regular sleep schedule, creating a restful environment, and exercising regularly. One must follow a routine of bedtime and waking up and before sleeping avoid use of gadgets. Limiting daytime napping to 20-30 minutes in the early afternoon and managing your worries before going to bed can also prove beneficial in getting a good sleep.

2. Exercise and Fitness

Ans. The World Health Organisation suggests that individuals between the ages of 18 and 64 should engage in a minimum of 150 minutes of intensity exercise per week or at least 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic exercise per week. Additionally, it is recommended to incorporate muscle-strengthening activities that target muscle groups on two or more days, per week.

Q.2. What are some ways to incorporate more exercise into a daily routine?

Ans. There are ways to add physical activity to your daily routine. Instead of taking the elevator opt for the stairs. One can consider walking or biking to work as an alternative to driving. Engaging in household chores that require movement and incorporating workout sessions throughout the day also helps. Additionally, activities such as yoga, swimming, dancing or even gardening can be done. The important thing is to select activities that are  enjoyable and commit to them consistently.

3. Balanced Diet

Q.1. How can one maintain a balanced diet in a busy lifestyle?

Ans. To keep up with a schedule and still maintain a diet, it’s essential to plan our meals. One can prioritize whole foods over processed ones, and stay hydrated, by drinking an ample amount of water. Additionally, incorporating a selection of foods from each food group will ensure  getting all the nutrients. 

Q.2. Why is a balanced diet important?

Ans. Having a balanced diet is crucial as it provides the nutrition for organs and tissues to function optimally. When our body lacks nourishment, it becomes more susceptible to diseases, infections, fatigue, and decreased performance. Additionally, children who do not have a nutritious diet are at risk of experiencing issues with stunted growth and academic struggles. It’s important to note that poor eating habits can persist throughout their lifetime.For these reasons, it is imperative that one has a nutritious diet.
