Literacy programs play an important role in empowering individuals. Education is a fundamental skill that helps people make decisions and participate fully in society. It helps them access information, engage in meaningful debates and make informed decisions. Therefore, investing in adult literacy programs can be very beneficial, transformative and a turning point for every individual and their communities. Adult literacy plays a significant role in boosting the economy of the country. People who are educated become more productive and adaptable than their counterparts. This helps in reducing the unemployment of adults, improving their financial situation thereby giving them a fulfilling career and life.

In addition to this, illiterate adults sooner or later can become a huge threat to society. The illiterate masses can be easily manipulated and can be convinced to do illicit activities. The instances of getting into robbery or other petty crimes is predominantly witnessed among those who have never learnt to read and write. Moreover, their illiteracy is also a barrier to civic engagement. These unaware groups will not be able to decipher political issues and the system of voting and thus will not have a vital role in the democratic process.

To conclude, youth education is important and should be the top priority, but it must not hinder the education of adults especially those who can not read or write. It plays a crucial role in individual, economic and societal development. Therefore, there is a need for sufficient funding to establish and support adequate adult education programs.
