Understanding Brown University Financial Aid

Important Note: 

Starting with the Class of 2029, the scholarship applications are need-blind for international students. International students applying for the first time will no longer be given scholarships based on their financial circumstances. Instead, their academic merit is considered.

Scholarships that are granted after you get admission to the university would be based solely on financial need and not on merit. For example, the winter and summer scholarships.

Brown University’s Scholarships for First-Year International Students 

The first year international students at the university are granted merit-based scholarships. This means your overall academic performance, extracurricular activities, etc, would be considered for admission purposes. This is a need-blind scholarship, and financial situation (whether good or bad) is not taken into account. The scholarship amount has not been specified because it varies. The deadline for the application is between November to February.

Winter/Summer Financial Aid

These Brown University scholarships are given to current students at the university. This includes international students.
