Objectives

The Agatha Harrison Memorial Fellowship program was launched with the objective of promoting specialization in modern Indian education in different fields of Economics, History and Political Science. The Ministry of Human Resource Development had initially launched this program only for one academic year. But this tenure can be increased by one more year if the candidate has performed exceptionally well in his or her academics.

This Fellowship program will provide financial assistance, which will cover the candidate’s tuition fees and academic expenses including stationary and travel allowances. The candidate will also be provided with a stipend for lunches in the college and six high-table dinners.

The student receiving the Agatha Harrison Memorial Fellowship also provides return air travel, in economy class airfare. The travel allowance under this fellowship can also be used by the candidate’s spouse, only if she/he is currently residing in the UK with the candidate for at least one year. The fellowship amount is only given to a single person. If the spouse lives with the candidate, then in such case, the candidate will have to arrange for the expenditure of the spouse himself or herself.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are interested in the Agatha Harrison Memorial Fellowship program must fulfil all the required eligibility criteria ruled out by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.   • Candidates must hold Indian nationality, and currently residing in Indian territory.

Experience

Candidates applying for this fellowship must have work experience of at least 3 years in teaching at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.

*Note –  if the candidate has studied in any institution from abroad for more than 6 months, then for them, it is mandatory to reside in India for a minimum of three consecutive years. If the candidate possesses all these qualifications, then only he or she is eligible to apply for this fellowship program.

Interview Dates

All the candidates who will be shortlisted for the Interview stage will be published by the Ministry of Human Resource Development on its website in the month of March.
