Things to Know After Entering Japan on a Work Visa
The following are the important things you need to know after entering the country on a work visa.
- After entering Japan on a work visa you will receive a landing permit. This will be provided to you at the port of entry. The landing permit would act as the visa replacement and gives your permission to enter the country.
- You need a residence card or a reentry permit if you are going to stay for more than 1 year;
- A residence card is given along with a landing permit at certain airports like Haneda, Narita, Chubu, and Narita. Those who are landing at other airports need to get the same from a local municipality. You also need to visit the local municipal office or the ward office after 14 days to register your address.
- On the other hand, a reentry permit needs to be applied by anyone on a visa who wants to stay outside the country for more than a year.
- Those who leave Japan and want to enter the country within 1 year can apply for a special re-entry permit.
