Croatia does not grant a Digital Nomad Visa. Instead, there is a temporary residence permit available for Digital Nomads. Therefore, when we talk about the Croatia Digital Nomad visa we are actually referring to ‘Temporary Residence Permit’. To apply for this temporary residence permit, you must meet the following requirements.

The first step is to meet the eligibility requirements. The basic eligibility criteria that you must meet are provided below:
- You must be a non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizen
- You must be employed in a company, or perform work through communication technology in an organisation that is not registered in the Republic of Croatia. Moreover, the company must also not conduct business or provide services to employees in the Republic of Croatia.

Croatia Digital Nomad Visa Requirements: Documentation
Several documents have to be submitted to get a temporary residence permit. These documents would verify your eligibility and your identity. All documents must be submitted in either Croatian or English
- Application Form: Download the application form (Form 1a) from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Croatia’s official website and fill out the same.
- Travel document- You must have a passport that is valid for 3 months longer than the duration of your intended stay.
- Health insurance- You must have health insurance that is valid for the duration of your stay. You can choose to get travel or private health insurance that is applicable in Croatia. The health insurance must be at least EUR 30,00 and must be valid in all the Schenegen states.
- Proof of Purpose– You need to submit documents clearing your intention to stay. This can be an employment contract, or an official letter to prove that you are undertaking work through communication technology for your company or a foreign company that is not registered in Croatia. For example, your own company registration certificate, or employment contract.
- Police clearance- You need to get a police clearance certificate from India.
- Photographs- Get two passport-size photographs.
- Proof of Funds- Provide proof that you have sufficient funds to cover your expenses. You need at least Hrk 28.800,00, or EUR 4000 as the minimum back account balance.
- Reason letter- A letter stating the reason for visa rejection (if you have previously applied for any visa and got rejected),
- Proof of Accommodation in Croatia– Submit hotel booking (even if it is not confirmed). A lease contract with the landlord is also acceptable.
- Flight tickets- Submit your flight tickets to and from Croatia (even if it is not confirmed)

One of the main visa requirements is to have sufficient funds for the duration of your stay. This would mean you need to have funds-

Croatia Digital Nomad Visa Application Process
Ensure that you meet the Croatia digital nomad visa requirements before applying. You can follow the steps below to start the visa application process
- First, you need to apply for a residence permit. To apply, first fill out Form 1a, and schedule your appointment at a visa application centre.
- Gather the documents required as per the document checklist
- On the date of your appointment visit the visa application centre and submit your application form, required documents, and your biometric information.
- At this stage, you are required to pay the visa fees
- After you submit the fees, the application will be processed. You can also check the status of your application online by entering your reference number, and last name
- After a decision has been made you can collect your passport and documents from the visa application centre.
- If your residence permit application is approved, you can download the D visa application centre from the VFS Global website, and apply for the visa. The application process is the same.
- After getting your D visa approval you can travel to Croatia, and collect your biometric residence card. You also need to submit your biometric information to the police station where you are collecting your biometric residence card.
