What are Prepositions?

Prepositions are words that indicate the relationship of a noun, pronoun or noun phrase to another word or phrase in a sentence. Prepositions are one of the eight parts of speech. It is paired with an object of a preposition to form a prepositional phrase. These include words with abstract or complex meanings such as for, in, of, to and with.
