Dhirubhai Ambani Birth Place
He was born in Chorwad, Junagadh in Gujarat. Dhirubhai Ambani was one of the three sons of a school teacher. The financial condition of his family was not good. He was a school dropout and he had to do some work to earn money only after his 10th class. It was just the start of his hustle towards becoming the biggest businessman in India.
Moved to Aden and Worked at Petrol Station
At the age of 17, he went to Aden, Yemen to seek work for earning. He was a dispatch clerk at Besse & Co. Later he became the manager of the the company’s oil-filling station in Aden. In 1958, he left Aden and returned to India to set up his venture.
Returned to India and Started Reliance
Dhirubhai Ambani Returned to India in 1958. After this, he planned to initiate his business venture, a spice trading company called Reliance Commercial Corporation. In 1962, he identified a great opportunity in trading so he shifted to a new business. He purchased land in Noroda, Gujarat to set up a textile mill. Gradually, the company was growing and in 1977, it went public and released IPO.
Dhirubhai Ambani Death Date
In 1986, Dhirubhai Ambani suffered a stroke in February after which he handed over his business empire to his sons Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani. He suffered a major stroke on 24 June 2002 and he died on 6 July 2002.
