According to the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), 2020–2021, which was published in January 2023, there was a 7.5% rise in student enrollment nationwide from 2019–20 to 2020–21, bringing the total to 4.13 crore. Notably, female enrollment in higher education climbed from 45% to 49% of all enrollments in 2020–21, and the Gross Enrolment Ratio for all enrollments (according to the 2011 Census) improved by nearly 2 points to 27.3.
