Dear Shanice,
I hope you are in great health. I am doing good too. I have some great news to share with you. My school cricket team won the tournament. I am so excited about it that I sat down to write this letter to you.

We were told earlier this year that there is going to be an inter-class cricket tournament. So we formed our team and submitted the list of the same to our P.T.E. teacher. In the early matches of the tournament, we did well, but during the qualifier matches, the competition was good and we struggled a little, but we did qualify for the semi-finals. In the semi-final match, it was an easy win.

We beat the opponent team by a margin of 50 runs. This brought our confidence to the maximum making us believe that we did stand a chance to win this tournament. And then came the tournament finale. The pressure of the same was very much and the entire school was there to witness it. There were 10 overs in each innings. We won the toss and chose to bowl first so that we could chase after the target according to our strategy. But to our surprise, the opponent team gave us a great target of 110 ten runs. When it was our turn to bat, our first 3 wickets went down in the first 3 overs with a minimum of 30 runs. Then, it was my turn to bat. Initially, I was a little tensed, but when I went to pitch, I was able to get the total of our team to 86 in the 7th over. But I was bowled in the same over. Then our captain led us to victory in the remaining overs. It was great, the moment he hit the winning boundary, we ran into the ground celebrating. The trophy that we got is amazing. I will show it to you the next time you visit me.

I miss you a lot. It has been so long since we spoke on the phone. When you get the time, call me. And we will also plan to meet soon. Till then, take care. Hope to see you soon. Give my regards to your parents.

Your loving friend,
Nikhil.

Dear Mithlesh,
I hope you are doing great. I am good too. I was missing you so I sat down to write this letter to you. Also, there is some great news that I need to share with you.

My team won the school cricket tournament. I was the captain of the team. It took place over this month with matches consisting of 10 overs per inning. The start of the tournament was weak for us as it was difficult to win the initial matches. But soon after 2 matches, we were able to pick up the pace. The qualifier match was a nail-biter. In the last over we needed 10 runs and I was able to get my team to victory by hitting those runs. In the finale, we lost the toss and had to bat first. Because of the great bowling of the opponent team, we were not able to set a great target for them. We made 100 runs and my batting contributed 25 runs in the same.

When our turn to bowl came, the opponent team made 50 runs in the first 5 overs of the match. We got tensed that we would lose the tournament. But then we changed our strategy and did short-pitch bowling and changed the fielding lineup as well. And then we were able to take down the opponent team’s batsmen. In the last ball, 6 runs were required by the opponent team. But they couldn’t make those runs and we won the tournament. The cheering was great and our confidence soared. We were appreciated by the principal as well as our P.T.E. teacher. It was a great day.

I have also gotten the man-of-the-match trophy. I will show it to you the next time we meet. When you get time, write to me or call me. Give my regards to your parents. Hope to see you soon. Take care.

Your loving friend,
Nishchay.
