Ashoka University Scholarships

Established in 2014, Ashoka University is a privately owned research institution situated in Sonepat, Haryana. It holds recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Government of Haryana, and the Government of India. Some scholarships are offered by the university. In this blog, we will give the details of the scholarships that are provided by Ashoka University.

Occupying a 25-acre campus, Ashoka University provides a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs encompassing various fields of study. The university offers both major and minor degree courses and presently houses seven academic centres, fostering research-focused partnerships.

Ashoka University Scholarships

Below, we have added different scholarships for undergraduate students including their benefits.

Scholarship 1

The University provides financial assistance to deserving students, collaborating with multiple financial organizations and banks to facilitate education loans. Notably, a sum of Rs 250 crore was raised through various philanthropic activities, aimed at assisting over 3,250 students.

Since the inception of the Undergraduate Programme, Ashoka University’s benevolent Financial Aid policy has contributed to supporting approximately 47% of our students, who have been granted some form of financial assistance.

Among these students, 61% have been granted partial tuition waivers, while 39% have received a minimum of 100% Tuition waiver or more, covering expenses such as hostel and meals.

Scholarship 2

Merit cum Means Scholarship for Computer Science and the Sciences. Ashoka University has recently introduced its inaugural merit cum means scholarship for outstanding UG students who are applying for the 2023 intake, with the intention of majoring in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Mathematics at Ashoka.

25 scholarships will be granted, to the need-based students. Out of these, 5 candidates will get a full waiver of 100% on residence and tuition fees, while the other 20 students will be granted a 100% waiver on their entire tuition fees.

Eligibility criteria include meeting the following academic cut-offs which would be based on high school or national-level entrance test scores:

  • ICSE/CBSE and State Board: 98% or above
  • National-level Entrance Tests: JEE mains: 98 percentile or higher
  • NEET: 600 or higher

Additionally, the applicant’s family income should be less than 40 Lacs p.a. (pre-tax) for the Financial Year 2022-23.

How to Apply for Ashoka University Scholarship?

Candidates who meet the specified cut-offs will be selected and invited to apply for the Merit Scholarship.

  • To participate in the scholarship program, applicants must complete a form that includes an SOP and submit their parent’s or guardian’s most recent ITR. The application form will be accessible for a period of 5 days.
  • A committee for the scholarship will assess candidates based on the quality of their SOP and an evaluation of their family’s income. Successful applicants who advance beyond this stage may also be required to attend a PI (personal interview) with the committee.
  • Based on their performance in the selection process, recipients of the scholarship will be granted either a 100% waiver on tuition fees and residence fees or a 100% waiver on tuition fees only.

Young India Fellowship by Ashoka University in India

The Young India Fellowship (YIF) is a one-year interdisciplinary graduate program provided by Ashoka University in India. Its objective is to unite young individuals from various backgrounds to establish a community of leaders capable of making valuable contributions towards a brighter future for India and the world. 

The program encompasses diverse subjects such as economics, politics, sociology, history, philosophy, and more, equipping students with a solid grounding in critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership abilities. The fellowship comprises a comprehensive scholarship that covers tuition fees and additional expenses, along with prospects for internships, projects, and mentorship.

Eligibility Criteria for Young India Fellowship 

The students who are applying for the Young India Fellowship must follow the below-mentioned eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants should hold a graduate or postgraduate degree and be below 28 years of age.
  • The scholarship is available to candidates who have achieved a satisfactory percentage in their 10th, 12th, and undergraduate studies. 
  • Students currently pursuing their 10th, intermediate, degree, or undergraduate studies are eligible to apply for this scholarship. 
  • The annual income of the student’s parents should not exceed 2 lakhs.
  • Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 55% marks in their previous final examination.

Scholarship Options:

  • Merit Scholarship: A scholarship worth Rs 50,000 on tuition fees.
  • 25% Scholarship: A scholarship worth Rs 178,000 on tuition fees.
  • 50% Scholarship: A scholarship worth Rs 3,57,000 on tuition fees.
  • 75% Scholarship: A scholarship worth Rs 5,36,000 on tuition fees.
  • Full-tuition Scholarship: A scholarship covering the entire tuition fee amounting to Rs 7,15,000.
  • Full Scholarship: A scholarship covering the entire cost of Rs 9,00,000.

Who qualifies to apply for the Young India Fellowship?

The eligibility requirements for applying to the YIF are as follows:
(1) Possession of a recognized undergraduate or postgraduate degree in any field (Final year undergraduate students are also eligible to apply).
(2) Age limit of 28 years on 15th July 2023 (Candidates born on or after 15th July 1992 can apply).
(3) Demonstrated excellence in academics and involvement in extracurricular activities.
Proficient in written and spoken communication abilities.

Can I apply for Ashoka Scholarship after getting admission here? 

As there is a restricted number of scholarships available, students are only eligible to apply before they accept their admission offer.

What is the duration of the Ashoka University scholarships?

Indeed, the scholarship will remain applicable throughout all four years, given that the student upholds a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 or higher for each academic year and continues to pursue the designated courses as their major.
