The full form of NLSAT is National Law Schools Admission Test. This test is conducted yearly by NLU Bangalore. Getting admission through this exam is one of the most challenging tasks, as it is one of the top universities in India for Law programmes like LLB, LLM etc. The written exam for 2023 admissions will be conducted on April 30, 2023. NLSAT 2023 Selection Procedure
The selection process for NLSAT 2023 is as follows:
- Part A written exam
- Part B written exam
- Interview
Parts A and B of the exam are the written entrance exams. The university will prepare a merit list based on Part A of the examination. The applicant who will clear the NLSAT Part A exam will give the Part B examination. The applicant who will clear all these will appear for the interview and will be selected based on that.
NLSAT 2023 Reserved Criteria
In the selection procedure, applicants are allocated their seats. However, to uplift society, there are some reserved seats for the backward classes. The seats are reserved in two ways. Vertical reservation and horizontal reservation.
Horizontal Reservation:
- PwD(Persons with Disability (PwD)
- Reservation for Women
- Reservation for the Students of Karnataka
Vertical Reservation:
- Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
- Scheduled Tribes (SC)
- Scheduled Castes (SC)

- District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/Additional Deputy Commissioner/1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Taluka Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Extra Assistant Commissioner.
- Chief Presidency Magistrate/Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate.
- Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar

Person With Disabilities
- A horizontal Reservation of 5% is reserved for the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category as per the provisions of “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016”. Candidates possessing a valid certificate issued by the competent authority will be eligible to apply under this category.
Karnataka Students
- Candidates of defence personnel/ex-servicemen, who at the time of joining service, have declared their hometown to be anywhere in the State of Karnataka, and those who have served or are serving outside Karnataka, corresponding to the candidate’s years of study outside Karnataka.
- Children of the Karnataka State Government employees who have served or are serving outside Karnataka correspond to the candidate’s years of study outside Karnataka.
- Children of serving or retired employees belonging to the Karnataka cadre of the All India Services (IAS/IFS/IPS), who have served or are serving outside Kamataka corresponding to the candidate’s years of study outside Karnataka.
- Children of working or retired employees in the Central Armed Police Force service, who upon joining service declared their hometown to be in the State of Karnataka, and those who have served or are serving outside Karnataka, corresponding to the candidate’s years of study outside Karnataka.
- If the desired candidate has studied in Karnataka for three years, they have to prove that their parent/s were serving outside Karnataka for a minimum period of seven years corresponding to their period of education of study.
- In case, the candidate has not studied in the state of Karnataka continuously for at least one year, they have to prove that their parent/s were serving outside Karnataka for a period of a minimum of ten years corresponding to their period of education.
