The officials of the Indian Space Research Organisation have recently issued an important instruction for candidates who have successfully completed the recruitment exam admission process. This instruction is regarding the willingness of candidates to appear for the written exam so that they can select their exam centres. Moreover, one new ISRO exam centre has been added to the list, which is in Bhopal. Applicants who will give their willingness to select their choice of written exam centre are the only ones for whom the call letter will be issued.

ISRO Exam: Eligibility Criteria

Possessing the eligibility criteria for the ISRO entrance exam is an essential part of successfully completing the application process. Age Limit

Candidates belonging to the General category must not be more than 28 years old as on 9th January 2023. For candidates who belong to the SC/ ST categories, their age must not exceed 33 years and for OBC candidates, the age limit is 31 years.

Apart from these candidates, there is age relaxation for the following candidates as per the Government of India’s orders: Ex-Servicemen, Serving Govt. employees, Persons with Disabilities, Meritorious Sportspersons, Widows, Divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands and who are not remarried, etc.

ISRO Exam: Application Process

The ISRO Entrance exam application process started on 20 December 2022. Candidates who possess the required eligibility criteria were invited by ISRO to apply for various posts offered at the centres of the Indian Space Research Organization. An applicant can apply for more than one post offered by ISRO, only if they fulfil the conditions. Candidates can apply for different posts at the same or different exam centres, but not for the same post at different centres.

Candidates can fill out the ISRO exam application form before 16th January 2023 by following the instructions listed below.

  • Visit the official website of the Indian Space Research Organisation at https://www.isro.gov.in/.
  • Under the notification section, look for the ‘Recruitment Exam’ option and click on it.
  • Candidates will have to register on the website, which will generate a registration number and password, that can be used to log in on the website.
  • Once the registration is complete, candidates can fill out the application form, where contact details, education qualifications, and other personal information are to be entered.
  • Once all the information is entered, candidates need to pay the application fee and upload the necessary documents.

Documents Required

While completing the ISRO registration process, candidates need to upload only their latest passport-size photograph and signature in jpg format. Apart from these documents, no other documents are required during the application process. However, applicants need to submit their original documents as proof of their education qualification, age limit, category, NOC from the employer, etc. when called for.

Application Fee

The ISRO entrance exam application fee is to be paid online only using a credit card/ debit card/ net banking. Applicants are required to pay INR 100 separately for each post. The last date to pay the application fee was 18 January 2023. For candidates belonging to SC/ St/ PwD / ESM/ female, there is no application fee.

ISRO Exam: Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The duration of the exam will be 2 hours, where candidates are required to solve a total of 200 objective questions will be asked. ISRO Exam: Admit Cards

The ISRO entrance exam admit cards are issued by the officials of the Indian Space Research Organisation before the commencement of the examination. Candidates will have to download their admit cards manually by visiting the official website of the ISRO once they have been released.   • Visit the official website of the India Space Research Organisation at https://www.isro.gov.in/.
  • Under the dashboard, look for the admit card option and click on it.
  • You will be directed to a new page, where you need to enter your registration number and date of birth to download the admit card.
  • Once these credentials are submitted, your admit card will be displayed on your screen.
  • Check all the details mentioned on the admit card carefully and download it.

ISRO Exam: Selection Process

The ISRO exam selection process will be conducted at all the 12 examination centres: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram. However, ISRO reserves the right to change/cancel the exam centre and re-allot the candidates to any other test centre. The call letters for the written test will be sent only to the registered e-mail ID of candidates. 

Based on candidates’ performance in the written test,  they will be short-listed for the skill test in the ratio of 1:5 for the category-wise number of vacancies, with a minimum of 10 candidates. For reserved vacancies, distinct/additional candidates will be short-listed in the ratio of 1:5 (maximum), without regard to the reserved candidates if any, shortlisted under the UR category.

ISRO: Salary and Perks

Candidates who will be selected for the recruiting job positions will be paid a salary according to the Level 4 Pay Matrix under the aegis of the Government of India.
