A website is a collection of HTML/Javascript/CSS files, graphics, audio and other media files. In simple words, a website is defined as a collection of web pages. Every element of a website has its different role. HTML is used to create the website’s formatting, structure and navigation while the role of CSS is to make the website more presentable. Terminology of Website

  • Protocol- Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is a protocol that is used to transfer all data present on World Wide Web (WWW).
  • Sub Domain- Subdomain is a prefix added to the website before the domain name to separate a section of the website such as “blog.example.com.”  Here “blog” is a subdomain.
  • Domain- A domain name is like a unique address of a website. Users or search engines need the address of the website to load. For example “leverageedu.com”.
  • Web Browser- A web browser is an application which helps the user to visit a website with the help of a working internet connection. For example, Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Safari, etc.
