ISRO Future Missions: After the successful Chandrayaan 3 Mission, ISRO is busy with its upcoming ambitious projects that include a mission on the Sun, Indo-US synthetic aperture radar, the launch of a climate observation satellite, a test vehicle as part of Ganganyaan, and more. It is expected that all these missions will be completed in this decade.

ISRO Future Missions

After the third Lunar exploration mission under the ISRO’s Chandrayaan programme, the Indian Space Research Organisation is packed with its upcoming missions. According to the official announcement, ISRO’s upcoming missions are listed below.

  1. Gaganyaan
  2. Mangalyaan-2
  3. SPADEX
  4. Aditya L1
  5. NISAR
  6. Shukryaan
  7. XPoSat

Gaganyaan

Gaganyaan is India’s first human space mission. It is expected to launch in the last quarter of 2024. According to ISRO’s official, a crew of three members will travel In India’s maiden human spaceflight mission.

The objective of Gaganyaan is to carry the crew member in an orbit of 400 km for 3 days and bring them back safely to Earth by landing in Indian waters. The cost of ISRO’s Ganaganyaan is nearly 9908 crores.

Mangalyaan-2

Mars Orbital Mission 2 or MOM-2 is the second interplanetary mission planned by the Indian Space Research Organisation in the Mangalyaan programme. Earlier, ISRO launched the Mars Mission on 05 November 2013.

It is expected that the Mangalyan-2 cost will be approx 450 crores. Undoubtedly, it will be the cheapest interplanetary mission in the world

SPADEX

Space Docking Experiment or SPADEX is a twin spacecraft mission being developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation. The cost of SPADEX will be approx 125 crores. The aim of this mission is to mature technologies related to orbital rendezvous, docking, formation flying, and other proximity operations with a scope of applications in human spaceflight, in-space satellite servicing, and other proximity operations.

Aditya L1

ISRO is all set to launch Aditya L1 for the first scientific expedition to study the Sun. It is expected that the Aditya L1 launch date is between September to November this year. It will be placed in the halo orbit around the Lagrange point 1 (L1) of the Sun-Earth system, which is about 1.5 million km from the Earth. Keep in mind that Aditya L1 will not land on the Sun by covering the distance between the Earth and the Sun.

Shukrayaan

Indian space research agency ISRO is working on its Venus mission named Shukrayaan 1. It is expected that this mission will be launched in December 2031. Earlier, the launch date of Shukrayaan-1 was December 2024. The cost of India’s Venus mission will be between 500 to 1000 crores.
