Jahangir, whose real name was Nur-ud-din Muhammad Salim, ascended to the throne after the death of his father, Akbar the Great. Rebellion of Shah Jahan
Prince Khurram, dissatisfied with his father’s rule, rebelled against Jahangir in 1622. Known as the War of Succession, this conflict divided the Mughal court and led to a prolonged civil war. Also known as Shah Jahan, the son of Jahangir and future emperor of the Mughal Empire, also posed a threat to his father’s rule. In a bid to assert his claim to the throne, Shah Jahan rebelled against Jahangir, leading to a bitter power struggle within the royal family.
