History of Neemrana Fort 

The fort was founded in 1464 AD by Rao Rajdeo, a descendant of Prithviraj Chauhan III, the fort has witnessed the rise and fall of many Indian dynasties.

  • Initially, it served as a strategic location for Rajput rulers to guard against external invasions.
  • Over the centuries, the fort has changed hands multiple times, with each ruler leaving a distinct mark on its architecture and overall grandeur.
  • In the 19th century, Neemrana Fort was captured by the Marathas and became a princely state under their patronage. 
  • Neemrana Fort was eventually abandoned in the 1940s and fell into a state of neglect. However, its decline was halted by an ambitious restoration project in the 1980s, spearheaded by entrepreneurs Aman Nath and Francis Wacziarg.
