FULL FORM OF BRO

The full form of BRO is Border Road Organisation. It is a road enforcement force that is part of the Indian army. Its primary function is to create and maintain road networks along India’s borders and in friendly adjacent nations. It began operations in May 1960 with only two projects: Project Tuskar in the east, afterwards renamed Project Vartak, and Project Beacon in the west. It is now a 13-project executive force with a well-organized recruiting and training centre, well-equipped workshops for plant or equipment refurbishment, and Engineer Store Depots for inventory management.

One of BRO’s most notable infrastructure accomplishments is the construction of the longest highway tunnel in Himachal Pradesh, dubbed The Atal Tunnel in honour of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The BRO has also successfully connected the country’s border areas in the north and northeast. Furthermore, it has improved road infrastructure in states such as Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra Bihar, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.
