Which was the First Inter State Water Tribunal?

The First Water Tribunal in India was the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal in 1969. 

• In addition, this tribunal was tasked with resolving the longstanding dispute among the States.
• The States are Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha over the sharing of Godavari river waters. 
• Consequently, the Tribunal examines the claims and counterclaims of the involved States.

Thus, since the establishment of the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal, many other Tribunals have been formed to address disputes concerning rivers such as the Krishna, Cauvery, Narmada, and Mahadayi, among others.
