History, Affiliations and Rankings
Established in 1994, Wellington Institute of Technology was previously known as the Petone Technical School. In 2001, after the collaboration of the Central Institute of Technology and Hutt Valley Polytechnic, the institute became the Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTEC). In 2020, the institute was labeled as the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST) with 15 other colleges. Wellington Institute of Technology has affiliations with Public NZ TEI.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Wellington Institute of Technology has a total of six campuses situated in Petone, Porirua, Te Kahui Auaha, Wellington Regional School of Construction, Hospitality Campus - Wellington CBD, and Auckland. Wellington Institute of Technology has the main campus in Petone situated in Lower Hutt which has the administrative department along with the library and other buildings or blocks. The Auckland campus at Auckland CBD provides courses in Business, Information Technology, and the English language. The Porirua Campus is one of the most mesmerizing campuses and provides programs in Business, Information Technology, Nursing, and Paramedics. Te Kahui Auaha campus provides programs in creative writing & publishing, Film Production, Hair, Beauty & Makeup, Music, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Digital Media. Wellington CBD campus is situated on Dixon Street which is used by both Whitireia and Wellington ICT Graduate school. Other campuses are situated at State Highway 2 and Cuba Street. Wellington Regional School of Construction houses construction and trade study courses.
