History, Affiliations and Rankings
Established in 1945, Uzhhorod National University is situated in Ukraine. The first class at Uzhhorod National University was started in 1946. In the beginning, only scientists and researchers from top higher educational institutes were used to teach at the institute due to the inefficient professors at that time. The Uzhhorod National University has academic affiliations with 125 partners from various nations, including Charles University, Technical University of Prague (Czech Republic), Corvin University, University of State and Law. L. Koshuta (Hungary), Kosice University. Pavol Jozef Shafarik, University, Comenius (Slovakia), University of Oradea, University of Cluj, Babes-Boyai (Romania), and others.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The campus of the Uzhhorod National University have the latest library and state-of-the-art labs that provide students with an engaging college life atmosphere. The Uzhhorod National University has 4 museums - zoological, archaeological, University history, and a museum of ancient printed books (incunabula), a scientific library, a university campus, the center of student leisure "Juventus", the sports complex, the alpine skiing base "Plishka" and the Alpine (high-mountain) biological base "Kolochava", Botanical Gardens and a vivarium and a sanatorium-dispensary "Skalka". The institute provides associate, bachelor's, master's, and certificate programs through its 20 faculties and 109 departments with specializations in MBBS, BDS, Pharmacy, and Nursing.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Uzhhorod National University has received the highest level of accreditation from the Ministry of Education of Ukraine. About 3,000 research articles have been published by the students of Uzhhorod National University. The institute has also received accreditation from World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The notable alumni of the institute are Volodymyr Ivanovych Smolanka, Fedir Fedorovych Shandor, Yuriy Mykhaylovych Bidzilya, Scientist.
