The University of Texas at Dallas was founded in the 1960s when the tech trio Eugene McDermott, Erik Jonsson and Cecil Green - the three founders of Texas Instruments - established the Graduate Research Center of the Southwest to create better opportunities for higher education in North Texas. In September 1969, the Southwest Center officially became part of the University of Texas System - a milestone that was marked when 62 graduate students entered the campus with a handmade banner reading "The University of Texas at Dallas," which was the first time the name was used on the campus. A top value public research University, UT Dallas today, welcomes more than 29,000 bright students to study innovative programs taught by renowned faculty. The University of Texas at Dallas is academically affiliated with the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration (CONAHEC), Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) and the Universities Research Association (URA). According to Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022, UT Dallas ranks in the bracket #351-400, while in the category of US Colleges Rankings, the University ranks #323.

Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses

The University of Texas at Dallas is a beautiful and modern campus located in the State's fastest-growing metropolitan regions. There are both traditional as well as modern-style buildings, most of which are connected with the walking pathways that make the infrastructure beautiful. There are around 50 institutes and research centers within the university. Academically, the University is divided into an Honors College and 8 Schools of specialization, namely - Arts and Humanities, Art, Communication and Emerging Technology, Behavioral and Brain Sciences, Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, Engineering and Computer Science, Interdisciplinary Studies, Management and Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The University of Texas at Dallas has a student population of more than 29,600, out of which 72% constitute students enrolled in Undergraduate studies. More than 5000 international students from over 150 countries attend UT Dallas, while most of the students come from Texas, California, Oklahoma, Illinois, Louisiana and Florida. The University has also been ranked #19 in Best Colleges for LGBTQ+ Students in the US according to Best Colleges and Campus Pride. Further, there are 300+ student organizations on the campus which allows students plenty of opportunities to socialize, and cultivate their interests.
