The modern University of Pécs was founded in 1912 and was originally located in Pozsony (now Bratislava, Slovakia). Following World War I Pozsony became part of the newly formed Czechoslovakia. In 1921, the university moved to Pécs, where it remains today. Its affiliation is with Compostela Group of Universities, EDUC - European Digital UniverCity European University Foundation, University Network of European Capitals of Culture, Danube Rector's Conference, European Association for International Education, European Universities Association, and Conference of Alps-Adriatic Universities. The University of Pécs is ranked 651 in QS World University Rankings by TopUniversities and has an overall score of 4.0 stars
