The University of North Texas was established more than 130 years ago in 1890 with the completion of the first building on the campus. The First Library was opened in 1913 when the enrollment number broke 1,000. The University of North Texas has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It has been academically affiliated with the Universities Research Association and the Oak Ridge Associated universities. Athletically, the University of North Texas has been affiliated with NCAA Division I - FBS - C - USA. QS Global rankings have given the University of North Texas a global ranking in the range of 1001-2000, US News & World Report Rankings have given the University of North Texas a Global ranking of 653.

The campus of the University is located in a 950-acre campus in Denton texas, The University has a total of 14 colleges and schools offering courses in Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, Science, Business, Education, Engineering, Information, Merchandising, Music, Health & Public Services, Visual Arts & Design, Journalism, Mathematics, and many graduate programs. The University also has an honours college, various libraries, and an Intensive English language Institute

Since its founding in 1890, the University of north texas has had a long road of history and accomplishments. It is one of the nation's largest public universities and the most comprehensive university in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Many notable alumni like George Dunham (co-host of the "Dunham & Miller"), Adel al-Jubeir (Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs), and Ray Roberts (former U.S. Congressman) have graduated through the University of North Texas and paved their way to success.

Over 6.5% of the Student Body of the University of North Texas comprises International Students. More than 2,500 students from over 140 countries attend the University every year. It is from a total of more than 40,000 students. The Career Service Center of the University of North Texas offers many resources to the students and alumni for connecting with potential employers and creating a better CV and a resume. The University hosts many career fairs for students to interact with employers.
