Established in the year 1947, The University of Louisiana is considered as one of the largest education systems of the US. It is a system of 9 educational institutions namely, Grambling State University, Louisiana Tech University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, McNeese State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, Nicholls State University, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and the University of New Orleans. Over the years the university held different names, including Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute (SLII) from 1898 to 1920; Southwestern Louisiana Institute of Liberal and Technical Learning (SLI) from 1921 to 1959; and the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL) from 1960 to 1998. University of Louisiana is affiliated with SURA and Space Grant, alongside playing at NCAA Division I FBS - Sun Belt. Times Higher Education ranks University of Louisiana at 600 in its US College Rankings 2022, and QS ranks it at #801-#1000 in its QS World University Rankings 2022.
