History, Affiliations and Rankings
The University of Dundee was founded in 1881 as a public research institution after a generous contribution by Miss Mary Ann Baxter, and her cousin. It was established to educate young men and women in the fields of Fine Arts, Science and Literature. The university achieved independent status and its best governance structure in 1967. In a student experience survey, the Times Higher Education shows that the university has consistently rated as one of the best universities in Scotland. The University of Dundee is affiliated with the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Universities UK, the Dental Schools Council and the Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance. Moreover, it has also ranked as the UK's top 40 universities by the national university rankings. According to the QS World University Rankings 2022, the university ranks at #322.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
The university's main campus is located in Dundee. The main campus has the University's College of Art & Design, Dental Hospital & School, Science & Engineering School, School of Life Sciences, School of Social Sciences, School of Education and Social Work, School of Medicine and Law School. The graduate employment rate of the university is persistently rising every year. Inside the campus, students have world-class facilities such as the state-of-the-art library, Wi-Fi, outstanding students who are indulged in research, and highly experienced professors. Apart from this, students can also take advantage of the small size of the classrooms. The university has been divided into 9 schools that consist of multiple research centres and disciplines.
