South Orange, New Jersey's Seton Hall Institution (SHU) is a private, catholic research university. Seton Hall is the oldest diocesan university in the United States. It was established in 1856 by the then-bishop James Roosevelt Bayley and was named after his aunt, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. It is religiously affiliated with Catholicism and academically affiliated with ACCU and NAICU Space-grant. In sports, it is affiliated with NCAA Division I: Big East ACHA: CSCHC. It is ranked 237 by Times Higher Education in US Rankings 2022 and 127 positions in National Universities by US News and World Report in 2022.
