RWTH Aachen University (Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen University) is one of the most prestigious universities in Germany located in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was established in 1858 by Prince Fredrick William of Prussia. The University started its journey as the Prussian Institute of Technology. It has been accredited by the accreditation agency Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. RWTH Aachen University is also affiliated with the German Research Foundation, German Excellence initiative, and German Institute of Technology. Internationally, the university is affiliated with the European Society of Engineering Education, TIME, UNITECH international, PEGASUS, and the European Universities Association. QS Global Rankings has given RWTH Aachen University a world rank of #165. Times Higher Education World Rankings has given it a world ranking of #108. As per US News and World Report, the university world ranked at #192.
Infrastructure, Campuses, and Courses
RWTH Aachen University encompasses over 620 acres in Aachen, Germany. There are two core areas – Midtown and Melaten district. The Main Building, SuperC student's centre, and the Kármán Hall are 500 m away from the city centre with the Aachen Cathedral, the Audimax (biggest lecture hall) and the main refectory are 200 m farther. Other points of interest include the university's botanical garden (Botanischer Garten Aachen). The University has 10 faculties namely in Mathematics, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geosource and Material Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Information Technology, Arts & Humanities, Business & Economics, and Medicine.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Since more than 150 years of its founding, RWTH International University has had a long road of history and accomplishments. In 2007, RWTH Aachen was chosen as one of nine German Universities of Excellence for its future concept RWTH 2020: Meeting Global Challenges, earning it the connotation of being a "University of Excellence".RWTH was selected to receive funding from the German federal and state governments for the third Universities of Excellence funding line starting 2019. Many Notable alumni like Peter Debye (Nobel laureate), Helmut Zahn (the first who synthesised insulin in 1963), and B.J. Habibie (the third President of Indonesia) graduated from RWTH Aachen University.

Over 26% of the Student Body of the RWTH Aachen University comprises international students. More than 12,000 students from over 100 countries attend the University every year. It is from a total of more than 46,000 students.
