Originally known as the Rose Polytechnic Institute and founded in 1874, the institute was renamed the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1971. Rose Hulman is a top ranking engineering institute in the USA and is a leader offering the very best in STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs. The 13 academic departments at the university are - Biology & Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Computer Science & Software Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Engineering Management, Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics & Optical Engineering, ROTC – Air Force and ROTC – Army.
