Ravensbourne University London is a specialist public university known for its industry-focused offerings in digital media, design and creative technology. Established in 1962 by the amalgamation of Bromley School of Art, Sidcup School of Art and Beckenham School of Art, it was formerly called the Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, after the River Ravensbourne, which flows from Bromley Common to Greenwich. In 2017, the College was accorded independent degree-granting powers, while in 2018, it achieved university status, becoming Ravensbourne University London in its present form.
