History, Affiliations, and Rankings

Pacific Lutheran University began its journey with a charter granted by the state of Washington in 1890. Although it was founded as a University, the institution functioned primarily as an academy until 1918, and finally reorganized and started as a University in 1960. Pacific Lutheran University has been affiliated with the Northwest Conference, Northwest collegiate rowing conference, colleges and universities of the Evangelical Church in America, and Colleges and Universities in Washington. QS rankings have given Pacific Lutheran University a national rank in the range of 251-300, Times Higher Education Rankings has given it a rank of 333 nationally whereas US News and World Report has given Pacific Lutheran University a rank of 14 in the regional universities in the west.

Infrastructure, Campuses, and Courses

The Campus of Pacific Lutheran University is allocated 6 miles to the south of Tacoma Washington. The campus of the University is mainly divided into two parts, the upper campus and the lower campus. The upper campus has academic buildings and offices while the lower campus is home to the athletic grounds and gyms of the University. The University offers 44 majors and 55 minors to students in a multitude of disciplines. There is a School of Arts and Humanities, School of Business, School of nursing, School of education, and many interdisciplinary programs.

Accomplishments and Alumni 

Since Its founding in 1890, Pacific Lutheran University has had a long road of history and accomplishments. In 2009 It became the first University in Washington state- And the first private University on the west coast to win the Prestigious Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization. Many Notable Alumni Have graduated from Pacific Lutheran University like Craig Fouhy (sports broadcaster), Angela Meade (operatic soprano), and Brad Tilden (CEO of Alaska Airlines).

Student Diversity and Visiting Companies

Pacific University enrols more than 3000 Students and over 3% of them are international students from over 24 countries. More than two-thirds of the student-faculty has international experience in the University. Pacific Lutheran University helps the students, be they, undergraduates or graduates, to get better jobs after they are finished with their degrees.
