History, Affiliations and Rankings
Established in 1964 as an institution with few revolutionary ideas, NSU was formerly known as the Nova University of Advanced Technology and is an eminent graduate institution in the faculties of physical and social sciences. In 1994, Nova University collaborated with Southeastern University of Health Sciences to start Nova Southeastern University. The Nova Southeastern University has academic affiliations with Independent Colleges & Universities of Florida (ICUF), the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), SFEC, and Sea-grant. The Nova Southeastern University ranks #213 in National Universities by US News & World Report 2022.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Nova Southeastern University has a total of four campuses. The main campus is situated in Davie, Florida and the other campus is in Puerto Rico. The main campus spans about 314 acres. It includes administrative offices, classroom facilities, library facilities, health clinics, mental health clinics, Don Taft University Center, accommodation halls, canteens, computer labs, the bookstore, athletic, and parking services. The Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center is the biggest library building in Florida. The main campus also houses both the College of Osteopathic Medicine, which offers the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) program and the College of Allopathic Medicine, which offers the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program. Nova Southeastern became the first institution in the Southeast to offer both M.D. and D.O. medical programs. Nova Southeastern University offers more than 150 programs in undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional school programs.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Nova Southeastern University is categorized as a research institution with “high research activity” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, The institute is one of the only 50 universities in the USA to also be awarded Carnegie’s Community Engagement Classification, and is also the biggest private, not-for-profit college in the United States that satisfies all the U.S. Department of Education's needs as a Hispanic-serving Institution. The notable alumni of this institute are Isabel Saint-Malo, former vice president of Panama, Will Kirby, dermatologist, winner of Big Brother 2, and J.D. Martinez, baseball player.

Nova Southeastern University values diversity in all its dimensions. The University has more than 24,000 students enrolments, out of which 5,600 are undergraduates, more than 14,900 are postgraduates with more than 1,600 faculty within the premises. They have more than 1,150 international students on campus. The male to female ratio is 29:71 at Nova Southeastern University making it a fairly gender-balanced university.
