Started as a clock making school in 1850 by Robert Gerwing, the Hochschule Furtwangen University is now among the well reputed institutions located in Furtwangen im Schwarzwald, Germany. HFU has great historical importance as it closely witnessed both the world wars and the civil war. After the second world war, the Hochschule Furtwangen University got split into two branches, one for classroom studies of Engineering and the other for training. Today, HFU has three campuses, main campus is situated at Furtwangen where the various programs are offered in Digital Media, Health and Safety, Computer Science, Mechanical and Medical Engineering, Business Information Systems and Business Administration and Engineering. The second campus is in Villingen-Schwenningen which also offers programs in Medical Engineering and Business Administration. And finally, the newest campus which was established in 2009 in Tuttlingen comprises of Industrial technology programs. HFU has gained special accreditations status like the Accreditation-Certification and Quality Assurance Institute ACQUIN and Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering-Informatics-Computer Science-the Natural Sciences and Mathematics ASIIN. The Hochschule Furtwangen University also has affiliations with the GATE-Germany, International Organization of Lake Constance Universities (IBH), Trinational Metropolitan Upper Rhine Region (TMO). Starting from Engineering to Computer Engineering to Medical to Health and Safety to Digital Media, the Hochschule Furtwangen University offers 50+ Bachelors and master’s program in all disciplines. The programs at HFU are mostly research oriented but also undertake practical approaches while learning. In order to enhance the learning experience and exposure, the HFU has partnership with over 142 international universities. With 6,073 number of students across all three campuses, the university also has 571 full time faculty presents in all three campuses. When it comes to the ranking, HFU is ranked #62 in Germany according to the DAAD. It is also awarded for its computer science and business administration programs.
