Dakota State University was established in 1881 in the Dakota Territory as a school for teacher education. Though the primary concentration of instruction has now switched to the cyber world, Dakota State remains one of the few universities in the country that equips students with the technology they need to succeed in any career. DSU is accredited by Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), South Dakota Department of Education, Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). They are #82 in Regional Universities Midwest (tie), #131 in Top Performers on Social Mobility (tie) and #20 in Top Public Schools (tie), as per the recent reports of US News and World Report.
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Dakota State University is situated in the Oceti Sakowin's traditional area, which includes the Isanti, Ihanktonwan, and Titunwan peoples. The nine federally recognised tribes of South Dakota currently represent these people. The sky's the limit when it comes to opportunities at Dakota State University. There are plenty of programs at DSU such as Accounting, Business Management, Computer Science, Cyber Operations, Elementary Education, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Marketing, Network and Security Administration, and more.

The University’s list of achievements is enormous. Some of the notable alumni of the University who are making an impact globally are Richard Barrett Lowe, 42nd Governor of American Samoa, eighth American Governor of Guam, Miles Beacom, President and CEO of Premier Bankcard and of First Premier Financial Services and Shantel Krebs, Former South Dakota Secretary of State.
Student Diversity and Visiting Companies
DSU has students from over 52 countries that bring their experiences, talents, and individual perspectives to create a rich, diverse community at DSU, both in and out of the classroom. The University hosts three institutional organisations that are central to the DSU experience. The Trojan Times (in print and online) is the student voice of the campus community. KDSU, an online radio station, broadcasts student and faculty created radio content. And the Student Senate represents students' interests within the university community. The University has a 99% placement rate.The institution hosts a number of events and webinars on a regular basis to ensure that students have chances throughout the season.
