History, Affiliations and Rankings
Established in 1921 in Canada, Concordia College is founded by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod to prepare young professionals for preaching and teaching ministries. In 1967, Concordia began starting first-year university programs in affiliation with the University of Alberta. Affiliation for second-year programs started in 1975. The university graduated its first class of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in three-year programs in 1988, slowly expanding to other faculties and four-year courses. A formal distinction between high school and college (degree-granting) began in 1994. The institute has affiliations with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC), and the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC).
Infrastructure, Campuses and Courses
Classrooms at the Concordia University of Edmonton are fairly small, the buildings and grounds are well maintained, the library is wonderful, there are many comfortable sitting areas around campus, the buildings are connected (great for winters) and the faculty is generally interested in teaching and the welfare of its students. The Concordia University of Edmonton has a variety of well-regarded speciality courses like Elementary Education, Business, Computer Security, and Public Health inspector training. It also has a few graduate-level courses.
Accomplishments and Alumni
Concordia University provides excellent university-level bachelor's degree courses, after-degree courses, and distinct cross-disciplinary majors, and is committed to offering the highest standards in education, service, and professional conduct. The notable alumni are Nathan Fillion, an actor, Sarah Hoffman, a politician and Sam Lam, a soccer player.
Student Diversity and Visiting Companies
Concordia University Of Edmonton values diversity in all its dimensions. The university has more than 2,300 student enrolments, out of which 1,800 are undergraduates, and more than 280 are postgraduates. The male to female ratio is 50:50 at Concordia University of Edmonton making it a fairly gender-balanced university.
