Buena Vista University is an Iowa-based private institution which was initially established as Buena Vista College by the Presbyterian Church. It acquired its current name only recently in 1995. Buena Vista University is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2020, US News and World Report Rankings 2020 named it in the top 5 US universities in its “Best Value Schools” category. Academic offerings are carefully organised into four specialised schools, namely, Harold Walter Siebens School of Business, School of Education, School of Liberal Arts and School of Science which together offer more than 45 bachelor’s, masters and certificate programs. These programs span disciplines of arts management, biology, business (built-in tracks), chemistry, communication studies, digital media, environment science, graphic design, history, psychology, social work amongst others. The university houses more than 1,847 students through its 15 branch sites sprawling on-campus and online programs . The campus is home to centres such as Institute for Agriculture, Food and Resource Management as well as a Centre for Rural Entrepreneurship.
